With elite football seemingly back to normal with relentless fixtures and full stadiums, it is especially pleasing to see grass-roots football also now in full swing. For Rhodri this means the opportunity to socialise with friends and play the game he loves after 18 months of curtailment.
Through an initiative between Sarah Owens, physical activity officer of Pembrokeshire Leisure, and Haverfordwest AFC, the exercise buddies walking football sessions have been a great success; Rhodri has really enjoyed meeting with friends, playing on different surfaces and developing his skills. The games are played in the friendliest of atmospheres and it was good to see all the players 'elbow bumping' their respect to one another after the matches.
Next week Rhodri will be attending a presentation ceremony to pickup his medals and certificate. We'll post pictures to this blog as soon as it happens. Thereafter, the exercise buddies football is being merged into the Clarby Warriors team and Rhods can't wait to train with them on Haverfordwest's artifical pitch in the evenings.
