A great summer activity for our sports loving service users is a trip to the driving range. This week Carmarthen Golf Club was the venue as JJ, Adrian and Rhodri practiced their iron shots and tried not to hit the ball collecting buggy.
Staff and service user always enjoy getting together from across our different services. Through good communication and careful planning, the teams were able to coordinate a preferred activity, in this case over an hour at the Carmarthen Golf Club driving range. With excellent facilities, it's easy to enjoy a pleasant afternoon in beautiful surroundings - whatever ability we have with the clubs! Luckily there are quite a few similar facilities in easy reach of our residential homes, so it makes for a good year-round activity to add to the person centered activity mix we help to manage.
One of the things that make this activity a winner, is that we find our service users enjoy the fact that it's not competitive. There is no pressure, they don't have to wait a turn and our staff are always encouraging, supportive and engaged. Both JJ, Adrian and Rhodri showed themselves to be good ball strikers and were also happy to watch Nina, Tracey and Nick hit a couple of balls too. Great fun all round!
