The shed in our Mynyddygarreg home's back garden is not just for storing things like bikes and lawnmowers; the boys have been using it as a workshop. And by the look of the photos, both the process and the outcomes have been highly rewarding.
Making anything from wood takes a bit of planning. With expert guidance from support workers Alex Lane and Dai Morris, the boys were involved in all aspects of the organising. From deciding what to make, to going to a builders yard to buy materials, all was meticulously planned. But of course the best fun was in the making. Adrian constructed a bird box, JJ a planter and Jason a picture frame for his favourite poster. All of them used many different skill sets and many different tools. These included sawing, attaching screws, sanding, painting and glueing. The finished articles have all taken pride of place in the garden and in the home.
It would be fair to say, with a shed load of enthusiasm and application, the boys have done themselves proud.
