On this occasion, ILS made a matching payment to that raised by our service users for Red Nose Day 2021. Residents from Ceiriosen Bren, Plwmp raised £73 by baking a variety of delicious cakes. It also provided a sense of purpose and satisfaction during the winter lockdown, which gives everyone at ILS a real feeling of pride. Well done to Tom, Barrie and Andy.
It was with great pleasure that ILS donated £250 towards Children with Cancer this month. Tom Bateman and friends (pictured) raised £8,500 on Sunday 4th October 2020 by running a virtual marathon from Carmarthen to Tenby and ILS was delighted to help towards their tremendous donation.
Our latest donation of £150 is to Bronglais Community Psychiatric Nurse Ruth Jennison and the ZAMHS project. ZAMHS is a small organisation that supports people with mental health problems in Zanzibar. It stands for Zanzibar Mental Health Shamba (Shamba means community in Swahili). Ruth and her colleague Mike Greenwood, a retired Clinical Services Manager who previously managed the community psychiatric services in Gwynedd, recently re-visited the island to help spend all the money raised here in Wales. It will help support people who would otherwise struggle to access mental health services because of the lack of provision in rural parts of the country.
You can find out more about this amazing project on the ZAMHS Facebook page.
This weekend ILS MD Ann Bateman was on hand to present Swans4Cancer a cheque for £200 during a fundraising match between Swansea AFC Legends and a Carmarthen Select XI. The final score was 10-1!
The Ty Glyn Davis Trust, known locally as the 'Secret Garden' is wonderful project that gives a huge amount to the local community, not least volunteering opportunities to our service users. Here, Jane Jamieson presents a cheque to Janine and staff inside the beautiful walled garden.

Inspiration Lifestyle Services are delighted to announce our latest fund raising donation; £200 for Community Money Advice. CMA is a national charity that offers free, face to face, confidential, compassionate advice and support to help people get debt free and stay that way. They have hundreds of centres across the UK and here's what some of their clients have said...
"Thank you for being prepared to listen and not to judge me. You have offered practical and simple solutions and just having someone to refer my creditors to so I don’t have to deal with them is such a relief. I feel as if a huge weight has been lifted. Thank you." (Ms F, CMA client)
This month we've received a lovely letter back from the Lennox Children's Cancer Fund, thanking us for our £50 donation. Our donation will be used towards the charity's Respite Breaks project as part of the Memory Maker Appeal.
Respite Breaks are memory making holidays given to children who are, or have been, undergoing cancer treatment. The charity currently owns two holiday homes in the UK which are key to the success of the project. It can often be difficult for a family with a child going through treatment to book some time away, so Lennox enables flexibility in each booking to allow for unexpected hospital visits and illness.
This summer, we've donated £300 to help Llandysul FC. They do an excellent job, working with young people from within the Llandysul area, not only in developing their football skills, but also by developing and nurturing their social skills. The kids love it and with the wonderful facilities on offer, together with excellent support from the staff, it's fast becoming THE place for boys and girls of all ages to come and use up some energy and have fun at the same time.
This month, we've been helping good causes in our local communities. With out latest residential care home now open in the village of Mynyddygarreg, we have donated £250 to the local Cylch Meithrin. These dedicated ladies work to make sure pre-school children are given a flying start to their learning and play.
